Only a few days until school is out for Summer! This year, the Oakland Chamber of Commerce facilitated donations to some of Oakland's schools from our wonderful businesses. OCoC was very proud to connect Visions Federal Credit Union, Soulfully Vegan, Bagel Supreme of Oakland and ShopRite of Oakland with our PTO's to help them during Teacher's Appreciation Week.
At the forefront of the donations was Visions Federal Credit Union who purchased full brunches from Bagel Supreme of Oakland for teachers at Heights Elementary School, Manito Elementary School and Valley Middle School. Soulfully Vegan, as well as Jackie's Bread & Bakes and ShopRite of Oakland, donated sweet treats to Valley Middle School, as well, presenting our educators with gifts of appreciation!
Lindsey Smith, OCoC Chair, said, "To be able to connect our chamber businesses to the schools through the parent organizations was a great moment for the Oakland Chamber of Commerce. At the heart of what we are here to do is connect our businesses to the community. By showing up to support our teachers, who are the driving force in our excellent schools, was a great moment for our organization. We hope to provide assistance for next year's Teacher's Appreciation Week!"
PTO's both emailed and posted on social media their praises to all the businesses and volunteers who made Teacher's Appreciation Week a success. Reaching, not only the teachers within the schools, but the families of the children who attend the schools. A wonderful opportunity for our businesses to showcase their talents and products.
The Oakland Chamber of Commerce and chamber businesses are looking forward to continuing assisting the community in more initiatives throughout the year!
